MLA Style

MLA Style is the required format for ALL formale writing in my class.  This is an effort to ensure that all my students are prepared and comfortable with the demands of college writing.  It takes some frustration and getting used to but constant practice is going to make it so that it becomes instinctual by the end of the school year.

What is MLA Style?

MLA style is the publication format agreed upon by professors and scholars who belong to the Modern Language Association.  No this is not an association of evil folk that sit around devising plans to make students crazy and confused.  Nor is the organization comprised of bored English teachers who spend their lives and passions pondering comma placement, proper margin sizes and bibliographies.  Their work is an effort to avoid confusion about style in disciplines across the humanities and to respect the ideas which inspire scholarly work by providing guidelines for giving credit where credit is due.  If you want to learn more about the origins of MLA style or the Modern Language Association check out their website
